This year at the Minnesota State Fair, there are seven brand new food and drink vendors.

We wanted to sample some of the dishes being offered from these new food booths, and here's what we found out:

Amish Donuts

Location: Peachey’s Baking Company, north side of Randall Avenue between Cooper and Cosgrove streets, in front of the Progress Center.

It’s hard to resist a warm, fresh-from-the-fryer donut. And if the line waiting outside for the booth to open at 9 a.m. was any indication – we weren’t the only ones excited to get our hands on an Amish donut.

The donuts were deliciously light and soft with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. They’re made from an old family recipe.

They’re only $5 each and I would absolutely get one again.

Afro Deli

Location: In the Food Building, east wall

St. Paul restaurant Afro Deli is making its much-anticipated debut at the fair, and selling its trademark sambusas; deep-fried, triangle-shaped pockets that come in chicken, beef, and lentil flavors.

We tried the chicken and beef - and both were great. A new fried food to add to your list.

Afro Deli also sells fried plantains, Somali spiced tea, and mango juice.

Churros & Aguas Fresca

Location: Northeast corner of Lee Avenue and Underwood Street

When we heard that this vendor sold churros by the bag full, we were in.

A bag full of plain churros is $10 – and one large filled churro is $6. Served with your choice of caramel or fudge sauce.

They also sell a variety of aguas frescas.

MomoDosa

Location: International Bazaar, in the Midtown Global Market booth, east wall

(Available August 24-29 only)

MomoDosa serves delicious momos: steamed dumplings filled with a spiced ground chicken, cabbage, onion, and ginger mixture, served with a tomato chutney on the side.

This is pure comfort food, a great dish to nosh on while walking around the fair.

They also sell veggie pakoras, masala dosas, and mango lassi smoothies.

Tasti Whip

Location: Northwest corner of Dan Patch Avenue and Underwood Street

This new food booth sells Dole Soft Serve in a variety of flavors: strawberry, pineapple, mango, and lemon.

Be sure to give a warm, Minnesotan welcome to these other new food booths:

Wow Fudge (Creative Activities Annex, south wall)

Bandstand Concessions (Grandstand)
