The Minnesota State Fair is on the receiving end of some national love, this time courtesy of Newsweek.

The magazine has published a list of the "10 Best (Late) Summer Festivals in the World," and The Great Minnesota Get-Together made the list.

"One of the largest state fairs in the U.S., the 'Great Minnesota Get-Together' is Americana at its best," Newsweek writes.

"For 12 days, more than 2 million people roam the 322-acre grounds taking in the 4H livestock competitions, swap meets, auctions, concerts and other carnival attractions."

The Minnesota State Fair joins global festivals as far flung as the Port Eliot Festival in Cornwall, England, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in Croatia, and the Taiwan International Balloon Festival on the list.

This year's Minnesota State Fair runs between August 22 and September 2, with organizers hoping to beat last year's record attendance, which surpassed 2 million for the first time.

The State Fair last month released its list of 31 new foods and 7 new food and drink vendors arriving at the State Fairgrounds for this year's event.
