It's official, the Minnesota State Fair is the best fair in the country.
Tell us something we don't know, right? But it's still nice to have this validated on the national stage.
The Minnesota State Fair was named "Fair of the Year" at the International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA) awards in Nashville on Tuesday.
It was up against competition from the California Mid-State Fair, Delaware State Fair, Great Jones County Fair (Iowa), OC Fair (California), the Pacific National Exhibition (Vancouver) and the Wisconsin State Fair (lol).
It was The Great Minnesota Get-Together that took home the prize, which is only fitting given it just enjoyed a record year.
The 2018 fair saw a total attendance of 2,046,533, breaking the 2 million barrier for the first time in its history.
Five daily records were also set:
- Thursday, Aug. 23, with 122,695 visitors
- Saturday, Aug. 25, with 222,194 visitors
- Wednesday, Aug. 29, with 144,940 visitors
- Thursday, Aug. 30, with 156,764 visitors
- Saturday, Sept. 1, with 270,426 visitors
If you missed it this year, the 2019 Minnesota State Fair begins Aug. 22 and runs through Sep. 2.
