We're fast approaching the end of the 2018 Minnesota State Fair and the very best of the fair has been revealed by organizers.
The State Fair announced on Thursday this year's recipients of the "2018 Best Awards," which are given to 12 vendors and exhibitors nominated by building superintendents and State Fair organizers.
The winners all exemplify "exception" customer service, knowledgeable staff, "amazing visual presentation," a premium quality product and great value.
Among the winners this year on the food side is The Hangar, the new venue based at the north end of the fairground, and Nordic Waffles (which our food reviewer Haley Nelson wasn't actually that impressed with).
There was also an award for the Haunted Castle Dark Ride, which is the largest traveling fairground ride in North America and was actually a day late in getting to the fair, having been transported over from Italy.
The winners were presented with their awards on the International Bazaar Stage at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Here's the fill list of winners:
The Anchor Coffee House (located on the west side of Underwood Street between Carnes and Judson avenues outside Ramberg Music Cafe)
Big Bamboo Fun House (ride located at Kidway, northeast section)
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota (west side of Cooper Street, outside of the Agriculture Horticulture Building)
