Six years after opening in Northeast Minneapolis, Indeed Brewing is expanding to Wisconsin.

The popular brewer announced Monday that it will be opening a satellite brewery and taproom in the Walker's Point neighborhood in Milwaukee.

The new venue is slated to open in mid-2019, and will consist of a 10-barrel brewhouse and a taproom seating more than 100 people.

The company says its expansion to Wisconsin is the "keystone of its strategy in the most populous and personally-connected bordering state."

Indeed beers have been available in Madison and Milwaukee for some time, but it will now have a permanent location across the border.

"Milwaukee feels like the perfect fit,” said Tom Whisenand, Indeed co-founder in a press release. “We share a love of drinking beer, and many of the folks who work at Indeed have strong personal connections to the state.

"We’re excited to be a part of the Walker’s Point neighborhood, and connect directly with new Indeed customers in the state’s largest city."

Whisenand founded Indeed along with Rachel Anderson and Nathan Berndt, and the company served its first beer in August 2012.

It now employs more than 60 people and distributes in three states, brewing from its base at 711 15th Avenue NE in Minneapolis.

Whisenand said that the intention isn't for Indeed's product to be diluted by the move, saying "this is no Panera Bread-like expansion."

"Milwaukee is a beer town and we are beer people that work every day to make great beer, meaningful commitments to the communities we are a part of, and get a real kick out of big ideas and innovation," he said.
