Monty Python reunion show run extended, includes Minnesotan Gilliam

The surviving members of the famed British comedy troupe Monty Python have decided that they're going to do more than one reunion show, Variety reports.

The troupe, which includes Medicine Lake, Minnesota, native Terry Gilliam, will do shows July 1-5 at London's 02 Arena.

The London Daily Mail says the first show sold out in 43.5 seconds.

Python members Gilliam, John Cleese, Terry Jones, Eric Idle and Michael Palin held a press conference last week to formally announce the reunion. The sixth member of Monty Python, Graham Chapman, died of cancer in 1989 at age 48.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, some U.K. media reports are suggesting that a reunion show could be coming to U.S. at the Hollywood Bowl. THR says the website selling tickets for the London shows says Monty Python's last full-blown show was at the Hollywood Bowl in 1980.

Word of the potential reunion was leaked in the press prior to the announcement, and Idle confirmed the rumors were true in a Twitter post.

Gilliam is unique to Monty Python in that he's the only American member of the troupe. The native Minnesotan also made his name over the years as a filmmaker, having directed such hits as "12 Monkeys" and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas."
