More donuts please: Canadian Tim Hortons opening MOA location

Canada's fast-food coffee and donut joint Tim Hortons is coming for the Twin Cities.

Canada's fast-food coffee and donut joint Tim Hortons will land in the Twin Cities next month.

The international coffee house and eatery announced it is opening in the Mall of America in November, which will be followed by another location in Dinkytown that was confirmed last month.

The Business Journal reported that there are also plans to create a drive-through accessible Tim Hortons in Brooklyn Park where an old gas station currently stands.

There are already three Tim Hortons in Minnesota, two in Tower and one in Mahnomen at the Shooting Star Casino.

Co-founder of the franchise, Tim Horton, played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and opened his first coffee house in 1964 in Ontario, Canada.

Currently there are 3,000 locations in Canada and 800 in the US, according to the Star Tribune. The franchise went international after it began opening locations in the Middle East in 2012.

The franchise's announcement back in June that it plans to expand in Minnesota came right around the same time that Dunkin' Donuts also made deals to open locations in the Twin Cities.
