Thanks to skills of one of its SWAT officers, the Minneapolis Police Department will be getting $100,000 in new equipment, the Star Tribune reports.

Officer Tony Caspers was named the winner of the Outdoor Channel's reality series "ETU" on Wednesday night. ETU is an acronym for Elite Tactical Unit.

Caspers, a 24-year veteran of the Minneapolis Police Department, defeated 13 other SWAT officers in the competition. In addition to the $100,000 in equipment for the department, Caspers earned $10,000 for himself.

According to his show profile, Caspers has been on the SWAT team for 19 years, and throughout his career, he has served on the K-9 unit, Narcotics Unit, Crack Team and ATF Weapons Unit.

In the show, the Blaine resident competed with the other officers from across the country in a make-believe scenarios where they battled drug kingpins and returned pretend gunfire, and raided houses and rescued hostages.

Lasers were used instead of bullets in the episodes of the show, which were shot in Arkansas, Missouri and New Hampshire.

Caspers was on the show by happenstance, replacing another contestant at the last minute, the Star Tribune reports.

The episode where Caspers was named winner is scheduled to repeat next month on the Outdoor Channel.
