Music, Nordic-inspired art, tattoos & more: Cocktails at the Castle returning Sept. 15
One of the Twin Cities' premiere music and art events will return to the grounds of the American Swedish Institute next month.
"Cocktails at the Castle", set for Friday, Sept. 15, will bring a night of live music, Nordic-inspired art, on-site tattooing, live demonstrations and more to the historic Turnbald Mansion, known as the Twin Cities' only castle.
“This is a night where art and punk collide and the unexpected should be expected,” Britta Walstrom, the American Swedish Institute's program manger, shared in a news release. “Cocktails at the Castle is where ASI gets to have so much fun with what we do and really surprise our guests.”
The two-stage live music line-up includes Monica Laplante, Killusonline, Whispered The Rabbit, In Lieu, Battery Eyes, Drug League, Odd Prospect, Big Salt
Woodzen and Shrimp Olympics.
The evening's menu includes cocktails featuring Tattersall Distilling spirits and Nordic-inspired speciality drinks and festival food from FIKA Café, all enjoyed with the occasional Swedish drinking song.
In addition to nonstop music, other live performances will include Luchador wrestling, puppetry and fire arts demonstrations.
Event-goers will also have opportunities to make-and-take their own art, including graffiti and screen-prints. Other activities include axe throwing and a wreck-it room.
General admission tickets cost $45 ($40 for American Swedish Institute and/or Minnesota Public Radio members).
A $100 VIP Patron ticket includes one drink, access to a lounge area, free valet parking and a meet-and-greet with Molly Steenson, chief executive officer of the American Swedish Institute.
A $150 VIP Tattoo ticket includes all the other VIP perks, plus a permanent tattoo from on-site artist Leah Earl Tattoo.
