Like just about everything Prince does these days, his so-called jam session Sunday night (into Monday morning) was announced last-minute and shrouded in mystery.

But also like everything else he does, the people who went there came out raving.

The Purple One's Record Store Weekend Jam brought about 300 people into his Chanhassen complex for the 9:30 start time gig, the Star Tribune says (though Prince didn't start playing until about 11 p.m.).

The Current wrote up a set list (along with impressions of the night), which started with Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL, shifted to new protege Judith Hill and NPG Horns, and finished with all four together on stage.

The Current detailed the rush of excitement when Prince first launched into song, as everyone there "literally gasped and shrieked as they realized they were standing just a few feet from the performer as he sang and played his guitar."

The Star Tribune says the end jam session with all the musicians "was like witnessing a master class."

(Check out both posts for really great, almost song-by-song details of the night.)

Here's some of the reaction put on social media afterwards.
