A new restaurant owned by two acclaimed Twin Cities chefs is now open at the Walker Art Center.

Cardamom, taking over the former Esker Grove space, is now officially open, the Walker Art Center announced Friday.

The restaurant is owned by chefs Daniel del Prado and Shawn McKenzie, who have put together a menu inspired by the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, with a heavy focus on vegetables, herbs and spices, as well as rotisserie meat.

Del Prado is also the current chef and owner of five restaurants in the Twin Cities: Martina, Colita and Rosalia in southwest Minneapolis; Sanjusan is in North Loop; and Josefina is in Wayzata.

Originally from Argentina, del Prado’s other restaurants feature menus that include Argentinian, Italian and Japanese-Italian cuisine.

McKenzie is the owner of the two Café Cerés locations in Linden Hills.

Cardamom will be open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Reservations can be made for lunch and dinner.

Walker Art Center members will be 10% off food and drinks.
