Nicholas David steams up Bushel Boy commercial

"The Voice" finalist Nicholas David is channeling his inner Barry White to steam up a commercial from Owatonna-based Bushel Boy Farms, the Pioneer Press reports.

But instead of singing, the Eagan musician speaks in a deep, sexy voice – a la the late soul legend – to help people take notice of the company's tomatoes.

Accompanied the seductive sort of music that people associated with White, David says in a voice-over for spot, "Is it hot in here? Why, yes it is. A balmy 75 degrees ... the perfect temperature for pollination."

He wraps up the 30-second spot (titled "Steamy Video" on YouTube) by saying, "Greenhouse grown ... Bushel Boy tomatoes ... always red, ripe and juicy."

This isn't the first time David's voice has been heard on a commercial. A representative of the Minneapolis advertising agency GdB told the Star Tribune that the firm started putting the singer's pipes to work a couple years ago, even before he became a hit on "The Voice."

Last week, David appeared at a Smile Network event with Bring Me The News founder Rick Kupchella, where he talked about spending a week with KSTP’s Jason Davis and Smile volunteers in rural central Mexico.

David performed at the Fine Line in Minneapolis on Sunday for an event to benefit the Smile Network.

David finished third on the NBC's "The Voice" in 2012.
