Nickelback postpones Friday's MN concert due to 'family emergency'

Nickelback's concert in Minnesota tonight is no longer happening.

The band announced on its website a "family emergency" forced the cancellation of Friday's Target Center show. It also affected Thursday's scheduled performance in Omaha.

The Minneapolis show is rescheduled for July 25, still at Target Center, and tickets for the March 6 date will be honored.

On Facebook, many supporters said they were concerned about whatever happened (Nickelback didn't offer details about the family emergency) and said they hope to see the band in the summer.

Chad Kroeger, Nickelback's frontman, is married to pop star Avril Lavigne. And in December, Lavigne revealed she was dealing with "health issues," but did not go into specifics, ABC News reported. It's unknown whether that's related to Friday's postponement.

Nickelback is often the butt of jokes in pop culture, and on Twitter people had their fun.

But the band has been immensely popular.

It's sold more than 50 million albums globally, and in the 2000s is the 11th-best-selling musical act in the U.S. Focus in on foreign bands (Nickelback is Canadian), and they're second in that time only to The Beatles.
