Don't go putting a nail in Nine Inch Nails' coffin just yet.

The rockers made a surprising announcement on their website Wednesday night that a fall tour will kick off at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Sept. 28, the Pioneer Press reports.

The tour is in support of the new album "Hesitation Marks," which is coming out in the Sept. 3. The band has been idle since 2009.

"I've been less than honest about what I've really been up to lately. For the last year, I've been secretly working non-stop ... on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished ... This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and (to) tour again," band front man Trent Reznor said in the announcement.

The first single from the new album, "Come Back Haunted," will be the first new music from the band since 2008.

Reznor has been busy in the interim working on a side band project, How to Destroy Angels, which featured his wife, Mariqueen Maandig, and scoring music for the films "The Social Network" and "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."

"The Social Network" earned Reznor and his collaborator, Atticus Ross, an Oscar for Best Original Score in 2011.
