It's the second largest jackpot in history.

The Mega Millions jackpot has now reached an eye-watering $654 million after no player won Friday night's drawing.

Nobody matched 6 numbers to win what was a $548 million grand prize, with the numbers drawn being 4, 24, 46, 61, 70 and Mega Ball 7.

It means the drawing for the next jackpot has leapt by more than $100 million, and at $654 million it would be the second largest prize in American history.

The next drawing will be this Tuesday at 10 p.m. Central.

If nobody wins on Tuesday, the next jackpot will be the biggest ever, surpassing the $656 million that was split between three winning tickets in March 2012.

The last time the jackpot was won was back in July, when a group of 11 office workers from California trousered $543 million.

Mega Millions cost $2 to play, though the chance of matching all six numbers is one in 302.5 million.
