Northern Minnesota toy store chain to open in 2 former Creative Kidstuff spaces

Three months after Creative Kidstuff closed all 6 of its Twin Cities locations, a new tenant is moving in to two of then.

Legacy Toys, which is based in Ely and also has stores in Duluth and Fargo, has confirmed it will be making the move to the Twin Cities.

It had already announced it will be moving into the former Creative Kidstuff store at the Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka.

And on Friday, it revealed it will open its second metro area location at the Galleria Shopping Center in Edina.

"Renovations are underway to open this location and bring back a fun, local toy store to the families in Edina," the company said, noting it hopes to have its grand opening in August.

Founded in Ely in 2012, the company says it's "devoted to helping kids and their families ignite their imagination through exploration and play."

It offers a "unique experience" at each of its locations, with "one-of-a-kind displays and activities that are sure to entertain."

Creative Kidstuff went into liquidation earlier this year after being in business for 37 years, opening its first store on Upton Avenue South in Linden Hills in 1982.
