NYC waffle staple holds grand opening at Mall of America Monday

Wafles and Dinges will offer free waffles on Monday, National Waffle Day

Like Tina Fey says in this 2016 American Express commercial, there will truly be "dinges for everyone" Monday at the Mall of America when the New York City-based business Wafles and Dinges celebrates its first out-of-state location.

In commemoration of National Waffle Day, they'll be serving up free Liege-style Belgian waffles from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

The company announced it had chosen the Mall of America as its first location outside of the Big Apple in 2019. The store recently opened on level 3 in the west side of the mall.

In a press release, company founder Thomas DeGeest, who is originally from the Belgian village of Bierbeek, describes his waffles thus: "It’s packed with sugar pearls, imported and made from Belgian beets, that burst into irresistible caramelized flavors and a subtle touch of vanilla aromas."

Guests can choose from "dinges," AKA toppings, including: strawberries, Belgian chocolate fudge, maple syrup, whipped cream or spekuloos, which is a Belgian gingerbread cookie butter.

Wafles & Dinges has been named "Best Belgian Waffle" in New York City, and holds a Vendy Award for "Best Mobile Dessert Vendor." It's been featured in television shows including TLCL's "Most Fantastic Trucks in America."
