'One Man Star Wars' actor returns to Duluth with 'One Man Lord of the Rings'

One ring is ruling them all in Duluth ... by one man.

The Duluth News Tribune reports that Charles Ross, who previously performed the "One Man Star Wars Trilogy" at Teatro Zuccone, is back at the theater space through Sunday to perform the "One Man Lord of the Rings Trilogy."

Ross condenses the nine-hour film trilogy that includes "The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the Kings" into a 70 minutes of "imitation, acrobatics and in-jokes about Frodo Baggins and friends' quest to destroy the One Ring," the News Tribune says.

The paper says the actor appears "cardio capable and hammy -- dressed in a dark jumpsuit with Vibram FiveFingers-style footwear."

Ross is accompanied only by a microphone "to better create wind, fire, marches and war and stage lights that make his Gandalf seem powerful, his Arwen ethereal," the News Tribune adds.

The show has even attracted the attention of Gandalf actor Sir Ian McKellen. The News Tribune says on opening night, Ross told the audience about the back story of the production, and how he talked with McKellen for 55 minutes "about things like gardening."

For people who missed Ross' "One Man Star Wars Trilogy," he's putting on a benefit performance of the show Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m. , with all proceeds going to the Zeitgeist Performing Arts Fund, the organization says.

See Ross perform excerpts from the "One Man Lord of the Rings Trilogy" and discuss the show in the video below.
