The Barrel House opened its doors on Thursday.

It's barely been open two months but already Birch's Lowertown in St. Paul is offering more options for its guests.

The brewpub in September became the latest venue to open in the Market House Collaborative across from CHS Field, joining the acclaimed Octo Fishbar and Salty Tart cafe.

Created by the team behind Birch's on the Lake Supperhouse and Brewhouse in Long Lake, the Lowertown location serves up beer, wine and cocktails, and offers a food menu created by the Octo Fishbar's Tim McKee and Shane Oporto, with bread and desserts coming from the Salty Tart.

Now it's expanding further thanks to the opening of The Barrel House on Thursday, which is an intimate, 50-person capacity lounge and piano bar on the lower level of Birch's.

It'll serve its own beers, spirits made by Minnesota's own Tattersall Distilling, and a selection of more than 90 whiskeys, as well as serving food from the Birch's menu from 8-10 p.m.
