Popular State Fair dining hall calls it quits after 80 years
After 80 years at the State Fair, the Robbinsdale OES Dining Hall will not be back this year.
Members of the Robbinsdale Order of the Eastern Star (OES) voted to sell the hall to the Minnesota State Fair for an undisclosed price, and all of their equipment – kitchen utilities, buffet line equipment, tables, supplies, ladders, janitorial tools and more – is being auctioned off.

The dining hall debuted at the fair in 1937 with a sawdust floor under a canopy tent, and they've been serving food on a plate – not a stick – ever since.
According to their Facebook page, they were best known for biscuits and gravy in the morning and delicious smoked pig wings, pulled pork sandwiches and blueberry pancakes.
The Star Tribune notes that there are now only two historic dining halls left at the State Fair: Salem Lutheran Church and Hamline Church Dining Hall, which has been there for 120 years.
