Powerball jackpot reaches $730M, Mega Millions soars to $850M
Another Powerball drawing and another increase as no one bought a jackpot-winning ticket in Saturday's contest that was worth $$639.4 million.
That means the next drawing held Wednesday, Jan. 20 will be worth an estimated $730 million, with a cash option for the winner being a whopping $546 million.
There were 16 players who won $1 million in Saturday's drawing by matching the first five numbers but not the red Powerball. Those winners bought their tickets in California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia.
The winning numbers were: 14-20-39-65-67 and the Powerball being 2.
Meanwhile, there wasn't a winner in Friday's Mega Millions drawing, which now has an estimated jackpot of $850 million. The cash option for that contest is $628.2 million.
