Some new music is coming from Prince on his old record label.

The Star Tribune says Prince – who reached a deal to return to Warner Bros. Records in April after legal battles over rights to his old music – will release the album "Art Official Age" on Sept. 30.

Prince previously recorded on Warner Bros. from 1978 to the mid-1990s, releasing such landmark albums as the "Purple Rain" soundtrack and "1999" on the label. However, the Star Tribune noted, Prince changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol and wrote the word "slave" on his cheek after his relationship with Warner Bros. went into a tailspin after Prince unsuccessfully tried to gain possession of his music.

Part of the Warner Bros. deal in April included a deluxe, digitally remastered reissue of the classic “Purple Rain” soundtrack, in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the film.

At the time, Warner Bros. also said a new studio album of “long-awaited, previously unheard material" would be released, but did not elaborate. But a press release from the label Monday said "Art Official Age" features "soul, R&B and funk."

"Art Official Age" was also announced by the three members of Prince's all-female group ThirdEyeGirl on ABC's "Good Morning America" Monday.

“It’s such an incredible learning experience. Everyone knows the genius of Prince, so to be able to be hands-on on a daily basis, playing with the best musicians in the world and becoming a family,” the group members told GMA. “We’re really tight and it makes the music that much better because it comes through.”

The GMA announcement was accompanied by the debut of the song, "Clouds," from the "Art Official Age" album. The 3rdEyeGirl members told GMA that Prince's other long-awaited album – which they play on – "Plectrum Electrum," will also be released Sept. 30, on Prince's own label. That album had been previously announced.

The album covers for "Art Official Age" and "Plectrum Electrum" were both revealed for the first time on the big screens outside the GMA studio in Times Square in New York City.

"Art Official Age" and "Plectrum Electrum" mark the first new studio albums from Prince since the release of “20Ten” in 2010.
