Prince No. 2 on Rolling Stone's list of 'Best Live Acts'

Prince is a prince and Bruce Springsteen is king when it comes to live performances, or so says Rolling Stone.

The publication has ranked The Purple One No. 2 on its list of "50 Best Live Acts Now," behind The Boss at No. 1.

Ranking behind Springsteen and Prince are the Rolling Stones, Arcade Fire and Neil Young to round out the top 5.

The list was compiled by Rolling Stone from a panel of writers, industry figures and artists.

In its analysis of Prince, Rolling Stone writes, "He's never sounded better, his band 3rd Eye Girl is fire-hot and he's plundering his back catalog with a vengeance."

The magazine also says the Minnesota music icon's showstopper is "Purple Rain," especially when he "launches into the epic guitar solo. Or another one. Prince can make the building collapse with any song if he feels like it."

The Rolling Stone list marks the second time Prince has come in No. 2 on a "best" list this summer.

In June, Prince's landmark album "Purple Rain" ranked No. 2 on Entertainment Weekly's "100 Greatest Albums of All Time" list, behind the Beatles' "Revolver."

Minnesota music legend Bob Dylan also made the top 10 in the Entertainment Weekly list, with his "Blood on the Tracks" ranked at No. 6.
