Randle's on Nicollet Mall is now closed, Rojo taking its place

The sports bar named after Vikings legend John Randle has closed, and will be replaced by a Twin Cities Mexican restaurant chain.

Randle's at 921 Nicollet Mall is in the process of becoming Rojo, which is expected to open in the space by the end of the month.

As MSP Magazine notes, both Randle's and Rojo are owned by the McDermott Restaurant Group.

Randle's opened in February 2017, taking over the space of another McDermott's restaurant, Ling and Louie's, and proved to be a hit with downtown diners during the 2018 Super Bowl.

Now it will become a Rojo, which hasn't had a downtown presence since closing in the North Loop in 2016.

There are currently two Rojo restaurants in the Twin Cities, at the West End in St. Louis Park, and at the Southdale Center Edina,
