Lower divorce rates, higher household incomes and health and safety are just a few of the reasons why Minnesota is listed as the No. 1 place to raise a family in the United States, according to a study from WalletHub

The evaluation took into account 49 factors related to family-friendliness. The factors were separated into five main categories: family fun, health/safety, education/child care, affordability and socio-economics.

Minnesota ranked third overall in socio-economics, which includes factors like job security, wealth gap and divorce rates. Minnesota placed eighth in both education/child care and affordability, 13th in family fun and fourth overall in health/safety.

The WalletHub study is based on a bunch of data and number-crunching, most of which isn't readily available through its website, so a comment like the one below from an anonymous reader makes plenty of sense.

"If you have money and a shred of ingenuity, any state can have many great locations to raise a family," the commenter wrote.

Regardless, it's another award for Minnesota's trophy case, and we're not going to complain about that.
