A northern Minnesota toy store chain is opening a "flagship" location at the Mall of America, just months after entering the Twin Cities market.
Ely-based Legacy Toys announced Monday it will open a store on level 3, North at the Bloomington megamall this fall.
It'll mean that in the space of just a few months, Legacy Toys will have doubled its footprint, having only had locations in Ely, Duluth and Fargo at the start of the year.
Earlier this year it moved into spaces vacated by the recently liquidated Creative Kidstuff chain at The Galleria in Edina and Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka.
Founded in Ely in 2012, the company says it's "devoted to helping kids and their families ignite their imagination through exploration and play."
It offers a "unique experience" at each of its locations, with "one-of-a-kind displays and activities that are sure to entertain."
Its MOA store will comprise 7,500-square-feet of space, providing ample room for shoppers to try out and buy its suite of products.
"The power of play is being lost in today’s society and we strongly believe it is crucial for kids to express themselves through creative and imaginative play,” said Legacy Toys founders Brad and Mistaya Ruoho.
"We are focused on helping families nurture our future leaders, inventors and creative thinkers. By encouraging all families to laugh, grow and play together we cause a positive impact on future generations. This is important to us because we know that making the world a better place for our children is the greatest legacy we can give."
The retailer's expansion saw it named earlier this year on the INC 5000 list of fastest growing companies, ranking 18th in Minnesota.
