Riverview Cafe in south Minneapolis has closed its doors in order to “reassess” its future.
The cafe and wine bar closed on Saturday. The establishment had been in the Longfellow neighborhood for 23 years.
“It is with much thought that we have decided to close our doors for now on July 31st so that we can take some time to reassess the future of the Riverview Cafe and Wine Bar,” the announcement reads.
Riverview Cafe, which sits near the Riverview Theater, cited challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This past year has brought extreme challenges and obstacles but has also has been a time for deep reflection,” the announcement reads.
“We are forever grateful to the Longfellow community, our friends far and wide and our incredible Staff. You have supported us in the beginning, through COVID, daily at the cafe and lately in the sun on our patio at the wine bar.”
Riverview Cafe’s wine bar recently reopened in May after closing due to the pandemic. The cafe also reopened in the spring, though it offered various takeout options in the winter months.
On its website, Riverview Cafe also accepted donations to help it survive the pandemic.
