The Scranton, North Dakota, farm girl-turned-Minnesota nanny who wowed the country on "The Voice" is recounting her time on the NBC singing competition with her new single.

Forum News Service reports Kat Perkins released the track "Fearless" on iTunes this week. A release show celebrating "Fearless" is set for Sept. 26 at Mill City Nights in Minneapolis. From her Facebook page:

Perkins says her run on "The Voice," where she finished in the top five, inspired her to pursue music further.

"I felt like when I got home if I could do that, I could do anything," she tells Forum News Service.

Three of the four "Voice" coaches turned their chairs in a bid to mentor Perkins on the show during the blind audition round in March, and the singer picked Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine as her coach.

Perkins, who was dubbed the "Rockin' Nanny" during her run on "The Voice," says after the competition she "jumped back into nannying for a couple months" in the Twin Cities and "just finished my last week."

Perkins is now planning a slate of concerts starting this week at Burning Hills Amphitheater in Medora, North Dakota, where her singing career began, the Farm and Ranch Guide (North Dakota) says.

“That is my roots,” Perkins told the Guide. “That is where it started for me.”

Perkins' tour schedule also includes some Minnesota dates in September.

"Now is the time to give back ... because of all that those people gave to me with their support and their voting and watching," Perkins told Forum News. "The least that I can do is come back and play for them."

In addition to her tour, Perkins will play the special benefit show Hope Rocks with fellow "Voice" alum Nicholas David at Faith's Lodge Sept. 20 in Minneapolis.

Faith's Lodge is a retreat for people coping with the serious illness or death of a child.

Ticket information for the Hope Rocks show with David and Perkins is available on the Faith's Lodge website.
