Round 2: Minnesota State Fair to hold another Food Parade this October

After the success of the first Food Parade, the state fair has decided to do it again.

The Minnesota State Fair announced Tuesday that it's hosting another Food Parade this fall.

This round of the Food Parade will feature 16 vendors and will be held Oct. 1-4 and Oct. 8-11 on the State Fairgrounds.

“We’re very happy to present another opportunity for people to enjoy a taste of the fair,” General Manager Jerry Hammer said in a news release. “It’s been a tough year for everyone, so it’s even more important that we find ways to connect with what’s familiar and important to us all. Nothing does that quite like the State Fair.”

Vendors at this Food Parade will include most of the same vendors from the first Food Parade, and many vendors will offer new items with a fall theme for this go-around. The vendors include:

  • Turkey to Go by MN Turkey Growers
  • Fresh French Fries
  • Mouth Trap Cheese Curds
  • Que Viet
  • Sweets & Treats
  • Pronto Pups
  • Tom Thumb Donuts
  • West Indies Soul Food
  • Minneapple Pie (new to this Food Parade)
  • Hansen’s Foot Long Hot Dogs & Corn Dogs
  • Butcher Boys/Pitchfork Sausage
  • Cheese On-A-Stick and Fresh-Squeezed Lemonade
  • Giggles’ Campfire Grill
  • El Sol Mexican Foods
  • The Hangar
  • Sweet Martha’s Cookie Jar

Some of the fall-themed items on the Food Parade menu include: brie and cranberry toping for Turkey to Go's sandwiches; Polish sausages and sauerkraut at Butcher Boys/Pitchfork Sausage; pumpkin spice funnel cakes at The Hanger; deep-fried pickles and hot apple cider at Cheese On-A-Stick and Fresh-Squeezed Lemonade; and deep-fried pumpkin and apple pies at Minneapple Pie.

In the wake of the fair's cancellation this year due to COVID-19, the State Fair hosted a popular drive-through Food Parade, tickets for which sold out within hours and led to numerous complaints from people who struggled to buy tickets.

Tickets to this encore of the Food Parade will be sold using a random electronic lottery process.

Registration for the lottery is open until noon on Thursday, Sept. 17 – you can register here. Everyone who registers will get an email by 8 a.m. on Sept. 21 notifying them if they've been selected to buy a vehicle ticket or if they're on the waiting list.

Those who are selected can buy one vehicle ticket for a specific date and time. Tickets are $20 per car (five people max), plus $5 in fees.

The drive-through experience features vendors set up along a 1.5-mile route on the fairgrounds in which vehicles travel in the same direction and vendors take fairgoers orders at their car window.
