The life of the late Gabriele Grunewald will be honored in fitting fashion on Tuesday with a run in Minneapolis.

The Perham native's husband Justin Grunewald is inviting those wishing to pay tribute to Gabe to join him for #RunningOnHope at B.F. Nelson Park in Northeast Minneapolis at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Tuesday would have been the pro-runner's 33rd birthday, and it's also being proclaimed as "Gabriele Grunewald Day" in the State of Minnesota.

The 1.405 mile run and walk, which is open to the public, will also feature words from Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as well as Justin Grunewald.

There will also be merchandise sold on behalf of Gabe's charity, the Brave Like Gabe Foundation.

Gabe Grunewald's funeral was held last Monday at the Basilica of St. Mary.

She was diagnosed with cancer while competing with the Gophers in 2009, but had a successful professional running career despite undergoing treatment.

Her death was met with widespread mourning that saw tributes flood in from around the world.
