Reporter and news producer Jack Molmud, who currently works for CBS News 8 San Diego, has announced he's joining the KARE 11 lineup in September:

He also announced that he'll be working alongside Boyd Huppert — known for his "Land of 10,000 Stories" segments on KARE — to "find, write and report stories in the metro."

"My time spent at KARE earlier this year really rubbed off on me and I’m hooked," he added in a followup tweet.

His time in Minnesota included covering the Derek Chauvin trial for CBS News 8, which he did in partnership with KARE 11, a "sister station" of News 8 (both are owned by media company Tegna). You can see a portion of that work right here:

Molmud also says he'll be sure to get his fill of the San Diego lifestyle before he leaves for Minnesota, namely "west coast IPAs and burritos."

He ended the announcement by inviting "the great people of Minnesota" to send him stories, noting that he has a passion for higher education, politics and social justice pieces.

Per his LinkedIn bio, Molmud is a graduate of San Diego State University, where he got his start writing and presenting stories for the campus newspaper, the Daily Aztec.

Prior to his time at CBS News 8, he interned at KUSI TV and Voice of San Diego.
