Sara’s Tipsy Pies, a Minnesota State Fair favorite, will soon be available at 130 grocery stores across the Twin Cities.
While the Great Minnesota Get Together might be cancelled for the year, the pies will be available in the bakery section of Cub Foods from Aug. 23 to Sep. 5.
Sara's frozen pies are already available at Cub Foods, but for the duration of what was meant to be the 2020 State Fair, her frozen pies will also be available in Lunds and Byerly’s and other local retailers, the company announced Thursday.
“We are really excited to still be able to bring a slice of the State Fair experience to our customers this year,” said owner Sara Hayden in the release.
"The support and partnership from local grocery retailers has been amazing and we’re thrilled to be able to serve our customers in a different way while bringing that cherished fair feeling to them, safely."
Sara’s Tipsy Pies have been available at the State Fair since 2015. In 2018, the company moved to a larger booth in the Food Building due to high demand.
The pies feature Hayden’s family pie crust, but also include alcoholic ingredients. The company has partnered with local wine, beer and spirit brands for its pies. Partners include FINNEGANS, Dubliner Irish Whiskey, Saint Croix Vineyards and Chateau St. Croix Winery.
Based in Stillwater, Sara's Tipsy Pies is also open for takeout and dine-in.
Sara’s Tipsy Pies isn’t the only state fair food Minnesotans can get their hands on despite the cancellation. State Fair to Go offers foods including Sweet Martha’s Cookies and Rosie’s French Fries in a delivery box.
The State Fair also announced a drive-thru “Food Parade” earlier this summer that allows vehicles to buy from 16 different vendors. Tickets for the event sold out within hours, but resale tickets were available on Craigslist for hundreds of dollars.
