It was just over five weeks ago that the Twin Cities was having a winter snow drought – well, not anymore.

The snow we saw on Saturday has finally pushed the metro area over the average snowfall for this time of winter.

Some 43.4 inches of snow has been recorded in the metro area as of Feb. 25, which is 2.6 inches more than average.

It's a dramatic reversal from little over a month ago, when MSP Airport had just 12.9 inches of snow as of Jan 21.

What followed was a massive dump on Jan. 22-23 that put 12.4 inches on the ground – almost double the season's snowfall by that point – at MSP.

Prior to the Jan. 22 storm, the largest single snowfall seen in the Twin Cities this winter registered just 3.3 inches on Jan. 14.
