The storms that impacted the area have moved out.
Original story, 5 p.m. Thursday
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for most of southern Minnesota, parts of northern Iowa and west-central Wisconsin until midnight.
Storms have developed along a line from southwest Minnesota through the northern Twin Cities suburbs and are tracking slowly to the east-southeast. The storms are expected to intensify with some becoming severe.
Storms that reach severe levels will be capable of producing damaging straight-line winds and large hail, some of which could be two inches in diameter, which is slightly larger than a golf ball.
Storms are expected to train (like train cars on train tracks) over many of the same areas tonight, thus bringing the risk for flooding – especially in southwest Minnesota.
