Sorry, you lost your chance to ride the Super Bowl zip line

Organizers had originally planned to offer some same-day ticket sales – but not anymore.

Unless you were online promptly at 10 a.m. Wednesday and have a quick clicker finger, you've missed out on the chance to ride the Super Bowl zip line.

The first 4,000 tickets disappeared in less than 72 hours during an online presale last month. At the time, the Super Bowl Host Committee said the rest of the tickets would be available to purchase on a same-day, first-come, first-served basis at the Bold North Zip Line headquarters on Nicollet Mall during the 10 days of Super Bowl LIVE.

But due to high demand, it was announced Monday that the remaining 6,000 tickets would instead go on sale online Wednesday morning.

Super Bowl planners decided it would help visitors plan ahead and avoid long lines in unpredictable weather conditions, the Star Tribune says.

Once again, Minnesotans proved they're eager to ride a zip line in the dead of winter.

Every single time slot listed on the website says "sold out," meaning those $30 tickets were snatched up quick Wednesday morning.

KARE 11 says it happened within 5 minutes.

A spokesperson for the zip line told GoMN: "When I went onto the site at 10:06 a.m. over 500 tickets had been purchased. Additionally, at that time all time slots were listed as "on hold". This meaning all tickets were accounted for in participants "shopping carts" at that time."

"If I had to guess, I would estimate all 6,000 tickets sold out in less than 3 hours but the majority of the tickets were purchased within the first hour," they added.

The Bold North Zip Line will bring riders 100 feet into the air, where they'll fly for 800 feet over the Mississippi River at speeds up to 30 miles per hour.

It's one of several attractions planned for Super Bowl LIVE, which runs from Jan. 26 through game day on Sunday, Feb. 4.

Was that really the last chance?

The folks organizing the Bold North Zip Line confirmed with GoMN that all of the 10,000 zip line tickets are gone.

But the language in this tweet from Meet Minneapolis kinda leaves the door cracked for more time slots to be added.

And of course some of those zip line tickets are already showing up on Craigslist.
