A kid from the Twin Cities has been chosen to compete on a new reality TV show for young chefs.

Milo, a 13-year-old aspiring chef from St. Paul, will compete on "Top Chef Jr," a spin-off of Bravo's hit reality cooking show.

A dozen kids ages 11-14 were selected from across the country and will compete for the coveted Top Chef Jr. title and a $50,000 cash prize.

Bravo says the show will have "all of the eliminations, the drama, and kitchen disasters" that happen on "Top Chef," but with "smaller-sized chefs." That means kids will compete in some of the same challenges fans have come to know and love, like Quickfire Challenges and Restaurant Wars.

Vanessa Lachey and Curtis Stone have signed on as hosts, Bravo says.

The series will premiere on Universal Kids – NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s new network for kids 2-12 – on Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m. CT.

About Milo

Milo (the kids' last names are not given) cooks every night at home and calls himself the “Picasso of Food," Universal Kids said in an email news release.

Asian-inspired food is Milo's favorite type of cuisine to make at home, because he loves working with interesting flavors.

Universal Kids describes Milo as a "very competitive" individual with a "comedic personality." He enjoys playing basketball, eating out, trying new dishes and learning as much as he can about the culinary world.

Milo's food dream is to own and operate a food truck called “Hot Diggity Dog”.
