The City of St. Paul and Ramsey County have announced they are teaming up to provide "expanded" cross-country skiing options and new "mutual" ski passes.

The two public bodies revealed a five-year agreement on the ski passes, which will give holders access to 60 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails across nine locations in St. Paul and Ramsey County.

Also new for this winter is a "premier skiing facility" at Battle Creek Regional Park West, which comes with machine-made snow and lighting, with chalets and rentals available at the Battle Creek Recreation Center.

At Highland Park Golf Course in St. Paul there will be new 5K classic and skate ski trails with rentals available in the clubhouse, while skijoring, snowshoeing and dogsledding will now be allowed at the 3.5K trail at the Highland 9 Golf Course.

A natural snow pass cost $35 a year or $6 a day and gives you access to all natural groomed trails in St. Paul and Ramsey County. If you want to use the lighted, machine-made trail at Battle Creek Regional Park West, you'll have to get an all-access pass for $80 a year, or $15 a day.

You can buy a pass here, or at the Como Park Ski Center, Battle Creek Recreation Center, Highland National Golf Course and Tamarak Nature Center.

No passes are needed for kids under the age of 12.

You can find more information here.
