Located in an antique-filled Victorian mansion, Forepaugh's was one of the most distinctive restaurants in Minnesota.

But that came to an end on Tuesday, when the St. Paul restaurant announced it was closed for good.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of Forepaugh's Restaurant," it wrote on its Facebook page. "Thanks for 11 great years!!!!"

It had been operating out of the 19th Century mansion since 1976, with the current ownership taking over in 2007.

But the restaurant suffered a devastating blow last month when its young executive chef, 32-year-old Kyle Bell, died suddenly after battling the flu.

Owner Bruce Taher told the Star Tribune that Bell's death took "the wind out of our sail" at a time when revenues had also been declining.

He said he's now thinking of what to do next with the historic building.
