Three years after moving into a larger spot in downtown Stillwater, the Lion's Tavern has closed for good.
What was then called Lion's Main moved into the larger premises at 324 Main Street in 2016, taking over the space that was formerly the Shanghai Bistro and giving itself a new name in the process.
But the journey has come to an end for the bar and its 250-capacity patio, which announced on its website that it is now closed.
"It is with the utmost sadness to inform you that Lion’s Tavern is permanently closed," it said.
"We want to thank our incredible and hardworking staff, along with all the wonderful customers that supported us. We are incredibly proud of the experience we provided to our guests and the memories that were made here."
The restaurant and bar is housed towards the rear of the Grand Garage building that also houses The Tilted Tiki Tropical Bar, which fronts onto Stillwater's main thoroughfare.
The Lion's Tavern was owned by the Najarian family, which also owns another popular Stillwater spot, Nelson's Ice Cream.
