Sun Country has announced two new routes for Minnesotans to make a winter getaway from Minneapolis-St. Paul International.
The Minnesota-based budget airline is launching seasonal routes from MSP to Nassau, Bahamas, and Sarasota-Bradenton in Florida.
The Nassau route will operate once a week, on Saturdays, starting Dec. 21, with the Sarasota service running Monday and Fridays starting Dec. 20.
Sun Country tickets to Nassau will start at $189 one-way (plus fees and taxes), while Sarasota tickets will start at $79 one-way.
"We are excited to add more sunny destinations for Minnesotans to getaway to this winter," said Sun Country Airlines Chief Revenue Officer Grant Whitney.
"Nassau builds on our expansive international network from MSP while Sarasota complements our existing Florida Gulf Coast service to Fort Myers and Tampa."
The Bahamas will be Sun Country's 5th Caribbean destination from MSP, with others including Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Aruba and Puerto Rico.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission notes that it's the first time since 2004 that MSP has had a direct route to Sarasota – about an hour's drive south of Tampa.
