Super Bowl zip line tickets are disappearing fast

Turns out people can't wait to fly over the Mississippi River in the dead of winter.

Last week, we asked readers: "Want to zip line over the Mississippi in the dead of winter?" As it turns out, the answer was a resounding "Yes."

An online pre-sale for the Bold North Zip Line sold out over the weekend, according to a Wednesday Facebook update from the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee.

The daring Super Bowl attraction will bring riders 100 feet into the air, where they'll fly over the Mississippi River at speeds up to 30 miles per hour.

Canada-based Ziptrek Ecotours will install four zip lines that will take riders from a tower on Nicollet Island to another tower on West River Parkway – a distance of nearly 800 feet.

It definitely sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience. But with it happening in late January/early February, we weren't sure how quickly time slots would fill up.

Buyers proved they aren't afraid of a little cold and snow (or they're out-of-towners in for a rude awakening), snatching up 4,000 tickets in just the first 72 hours of sales.

But don't worry, thrill seekers – those who missed out on the pre-sale will still have a chance to ride the zip line. About 6,000 same-day tickets are still available, the Super Bowl Host Committee says.

They can be purchased at the Bold North Zip Line headquarters on 7th Street and Nicollet Mall, throughout the 10 days of Super Bowl LIVE (from Jan. 26 through Feb. 4).

It's $30 to sign up for a 2-hour time slot. More information on tickets and scheduling can be found here.
