Surly switches it up: 'Revamp of our entire line, logos and all'

A crisp change for the popular Minnesota brewery.

Surely announced Friday that it has refreshed its logo that has been in existence since the popular brewery first started creating beer in 2005.

"We’ve tweaked the appearance of our cans before. We’ve updated our packaging as well. But we’ve never done a full teardown and revamp of our entire line, logos and all," Surly says.

"Furious, Axe Man, Xtra, Hell, Coffee Bender: Everyone got a refresh. No shiplap, no backsplashes, no repurposed barnwood, just a crisp and clean look for your favorite flagships."

According to the Star Tribune, the new designs will start hitting coolers in liquor stores beginning in January. The new designs are shown above, with the current-soon-to-be-gone looks shown below.

Surly also unveiled its 2020 beer calendar. You can see the entire calendar here, but these are some nuggets of interest:

  • Grapefruit Supreme that debuted earlier this year will be available year round.
  • Rocket Surgery, the popular hazy IPA of 2019, will be available year round beginning in January.
  • Surly will continue to surprise fans with limited edition beers monthly in 2020.
