Swan does exactly what you'd expect in the back of deputy's squad car
A Chisago County sheriff's deputy learned the hard way that waterfowl and backseats don't make the best combination.
According to a Facebook post from the sheriff's office, the "possible wounded trumpeter swan" was found sitting on a roadway during the agency's first shift of the new year.
Deputy Hanson, as he's referred to in the post, ended up transporting the bird "to a safe location along the river where it was released into open water." Unfortunately, the good deed took a toll on his squad car's upholstery:
"Most of the time when we give rides to a place other than jail it's appreciated," the sheriff's office writes. "Photo evidence proves that was not the case this time."
Indeed, the swan seems to have... ahem... relieved itself on the backseat.
