Minneapolis' Lyn-Lake neighborhood is losing another restaurant, with Mercado set to close by the end of the month.

The Mexican eatery's parent company, Jester Concepts, announced that Mercado will close by the end of December, after choosing not to renew its lease.

Jester originally opened Marche in the lobby of the Lime apartment building at 2904 Lyndale Ave. S. in 2014, before switching its name to Mercado, and shifting the menu from sandwiches to tacos in 2017.

In the press release, Jester says that it is planning new food concepts in the near future.

"Despite this closing, Jester has no plans of slowing down," the company said. "New concepts, as well as an acquisition, are in the works for the year ahead."

The restaurant group operates acclaimed eateries including Borough, Monello, Parlour, Constantine and P.S. Steak.

Lyn-Lake has seen a flurry of restaurant closures this year, including Libertine, It's Greek To Me, Hasty Tasty and Meyvn, though the latter two have since been replaced by Prieto and Mucci's.
