Target will go head-to-head with Amazon in the fight for online discount shoppers as it holds its "Deal Days" event to coincide with Prime Day.
The Minneapolis retailer has confirmed to MarketWatch that Deal Days will take place on Oct. 13-14, the same time as Amazon runs its biggest sales promotion of the year.
The pandemic has caused both discount events to be delayed this year. In the past, both were typically held in July.
Target is promising that it will be offering discounts on "hundreds of thousands of items" on Target.com on Oct. 13-14.
It comes during a year of change for shoppers, with retailers planning to focus more on their digital presence with the pandemic having resulted in fewer people shopping in person.
Target is among a growing number of retailers that has already announced it won't be opening on Thanksgiving Day, choosing instead to push its traditional Black Friday sales kickoff to the Friday itself.
But the details will start far earlier, with the company saying in July that its Black Friday sales season is likely to get underway in October.
