Target launches special Halloween home decor line with designer John Derian

Designer John Derian describes the collection as "funny-scary."

Target has teamed up with designer John Derian on a "funny-scary" line of Halloween home decor.

The special, limited-time collection will be available under Target's Threshold brand, marking Derian's first foray into Halloween oddities for the Minneapolis-based retailer (he's done other collections for Target in the past), Target says.

“During a Halloween that’s sure to be anything but ordinary, our guests are craving little moments of joy with those they love—and Target’s pulling out our best tricks to treat them to a Halloween they’ll never forget,” Jill Sando, Target's executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for style and owned brands, said in a statement.

"From truly unique décor and accessories from John Derian for Threshold to costumes, candy and inspiring activities and convenient pickup and delivery options, Target has everything families need to celebrate the season safely.”

The nearly 50-piece collection, which includes decorative accents for homes, will be available in Target's stores and online starting Oct. 10.

"I love Halloween and all of its magic and playfulness," Derian told Target. "And I love that the collection is not scary-scary, more funny-scary. I have a large archive of images and this gave me the opportunity to use some of the ‘darker’ images in my collection."

Derian said his inspiration for the collection was "casting a spell," and said Target did a "great job" on the line, which includes lanterns, glassware, serving plates, candy bowls, tote bags, scented candles, cushions, towels, and a 5-foot-tall stuffed skeleton.
