There are few better views of downtown Minneapolis than atop the fancy Hewing Hotel in the North Loop – and now you don't need to be a guest to enjoy it.

As of Wednesday, the rooftop terrace and bar is open to all visitors to the Washington Avenue establishment – provided they're over 21.

"We are excited to announce that beginning August 1st our rooftop will be open to the public!" the hotel wrote on Facebook a few weeks back.

"Sit city-side for spectacular views, cocktails, and shareable plates - no cover charge required."

You can even use the rooftop's sauna and spa pool, albeit that'll cost you $30 for a day pass, if you're planning on spending the bulk of the day drinking and viewing at the Hewing (totally intentional rhyme).

It's just as well the rooftop is open to all, because staying at the Hewing will set you back at least $179-a-night, and often much more.

Its drinks menu, on the other hand, is fairly consistent price-wise with what you'll find at other upmarket bars – with cocktails starting at $9 and beers from $4.
