If you're a fan of Nutella, expect it to look a little different when you buy it in the future.

That's because Ferrero, the Italian company that makes the beloved hazelnut chocolate spread, has tweaked its recipe slightly.

It was confirmed on the company's German Facebook page on Tuesday after it was first noticed by the Hamburg Consumer Protection Center in Germany.

They noticed that the chocolate spread was suddenly lighter in color, and that's because of changes to the amounts of certain ingredients in the recipe.

It's increased the proportion of skimmed milk powder, for example, from 7.5 to 8.7 percent.

The consumer protection group said it's also added slightly more sugar and reduced the fat content slightly, according to Buzzfeed.

The consumer group also suggested Ferrero reduced the cocoa content as well, but CNN Money reports the company has denied this.

Nonetheless, people are not happy that one of their favorite spreads has been tinkered with.
