The Revolution will play at Paisley Park on the anniversary of Prince's death
The Revolution announced more dates for their upcoming spring U.S. tour, including a show at Paisley Park on April 21 – the one-year anniversary of Prince's death.
The group, which formed in 1979 and backed the Purple One during his rise to worldwide stardom, laid out the expanded tour's run Monday. It adds to the short tour the group announced in February, which at the time only had dates in Chicago, New York, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia.
This new tour starts in Minnesota and hits more than a dozen additional cities, ending in Seattle on July 15.
The first show of the run will be April 21 at Paisley Park – the band was already scheduled to be at Prince's former home as part of the Celebration 2017, a monthlong commemoration marking a year since the icon's death on April 21, 2016.
The Revolution reunited for a handful of shows at First Avenue in September, with bassist Brown Mark telling Consequence of Sounds in a statement: "When we played those shows, I choked up every single night."
Rolling Stone says this new tour will include members Brown, guitarist Wendy Melvoin, drummer Bobby Z, and keyboardists Matt Fink and Lisa Coleman. "I mean, we're not going to do stadiums, but it'll be nice to do some bigger clubs and just go out there and have a little fun," Melvoin told the magazine.
Tickets for the new shows go on sale March 10, though some presales for select cities are mentioned. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for those announcements.
