It's Dylan week in Minnesota as music icon Bob Dylan returns to his home state for two shows while his son, Jakob Dylan, will be taking part in another.

Bob Dylan is headlining two shows on the AmericanaramA Festival of Music tour, which first plays Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth on Tuesday and Midway Stadium in St. Paul Wednesday.

On tour with Dylan are Wilco, Richard Thompson and My Morning Jacket, the Midway show is sold out, but tickets are still available for the Duluth concert at $68 each.

Dylan -- who kicked off the tour June 26 with two Florida dates -- scored high marks with Orlando Sentinel music critic Jim Abbott, who said the legendary musician's 90-minute set in Tampa June 27 "included unpredictable musical treats for loyalists."

Among them was "She Belongs to Me," which Abbott says was "reinvented by melding harmonica and pedal steel guitar atop a martial tempo"; and "Ballad of Thin Man," which during an encore was played as a "subdued ballad that allowed the caustic lyrics to be observed from a different angle."

The Tennessean music critic Peter Cooper also lauded Dylan's willingness to mix it up during the Americanarama tour stop in Nashville June 30.

"Want to hear a maverick reinvent the songs that reinvented rock 'n' roll? Go see Dylan," Cooper wrote.

While Bob Dylan will be playing in Duluth on Tuesday, Jakob Dylan will be taking stage with The Wallflowers in Maplewood. The band -- on the road with Counting Crows -- stops Tuesday night gig at the Myth Live Event Center.

Other acts coming to Minnesota this week include Mary Chapin Carpenter and Marc Cohn, who play the Music in the Zoo series at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley Wednesday and Thursday; while Kenny Chesney returns to Target Field Friday, the Basilica Block Party featuring Grace Potter and Matchbox Twenty is in Minneapolis Friday and Saturday, and Bruno Mars brings his Moonshine Jungle World Tour to Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Sunday.

Meanwhile, Alice Cooper rolls into Minneapolis for two shows on his Raise the Dead tour at the State Theatre Sunday and Monday.
